Community Mediation Services of St. Louis’ next community mediation training session is now scheduled to begin with an informational session on February 21, 9:30 am at St. Louis Mennonite Fellowship, 3752 Giles Ave. All applicants for community mediation training are encouraged to attend to learn about what mediators do, what the committing as a volunteer entails, and other essential aspects of orientation. Course size is limited, and we will be making final decisions for the community mediation training class participants in the week following the introductory session.
40 Hours of Community Mediation Training
The community mediation training course will be held over three weekends following the introductory session, Friday evenings and Saturdays. A total of 40 hours of training will be offered. Participants will learn about community mediation theory. They will study the nature of conflict and learn to recognize the different methods people use to handle conflict. All will participate in role playing and mock mediations, assisted by experienced community mediators. Completion of community mediation training will meet requirements for State of Missouri certification.
Fees and Expectations for Course participants
Fee for the community mediation training course will be $450, which will cover all costs, including meals, books, and supplies. A limited number of scholarships will be available to well qualified applicants.
We ask that all participants in community mediation training commit to at least two years of service with Community Mediation Services of St. Louis. Our primary purpose of training at this time is to build and diversify our pool of volunteer mediators.
